Created for Community - Hiking Tres Cruces (Escazú, Costa Rica)

A part of our studies required us to go on a "paseo" or field trip every 4 months.  We did this not only for the culture experience, but because we would have to give an oral presentations (en español) to practice our language learning.

On this day, which happened to be my birthday (Woot Woot), we headed to the suburb of Escazú, located on a hill about five miles west of the downtown San José area.  Here our entire school visited Tres Cruces, a moderate hike that is about 3 miles. It took just a couple hours and would be a great family hike for ages five and up.

The scenery is gorgeous with valleys and foliage.  Hiking up hills and between fence lines,  I was in love.  Traveling with the rest of our group, learning not everyone finds beauty in the lines from a spider web, or the crisp air at that altitude.

You see we keep moving forward though, because that's what you have to do in life.  Move forward, and move together.  Whether you like it or not sometimes.  It's better together because even in the struggles, even when we don't like what we are going through-- we have each other. We can laugh together and even maybe share you loathing of the outdoors. Regardless, it seems, it is always better to share it with someone.

We grab a hand. We hold the fence so another can crawl through. We smile, We pull.  We carry each other.

Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor:
If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. Ecclesiastes 4:9-10

I felt like Dora with Diego by my side.  And when we reached the top, it was worth it. But the best was sharing it with the people we had come to love.

Thats how life works, our greatest moments-- the best moments are usually surrounded by people you love.  Few people want to have the greatest or worst moments alone.  No, absolutely not. We crave to share our experiences, for people to understand.

I think that's what God meant when he said  in Genesis, "It's not good for man to be alone..." (Genesis 2:8) He knew Adam needed someone to share life with. And even on a day like this one, at Tres Cruces we continue to find the comfort in our companions on this calling and in our journey.
